I knew that the Blackhearts' version was a cover, but had never heard the original. Joan Jett is a total badass and one of the coolest rock 'n' rollers in the history of history. So the Blackhearts' version wins hands down. Massive feels.
I appreciate the congruence between the three versions, and the only point I'd note about the Arrows' version is that the drums sound more organic and ungated, which is always my preference for raw rock 'n' roll. I had never heard the version with Paul Cook either, and was surprised by that drum pattern also.
I don't know if there was any connection between the Arrows and Suzi Quatro, other than they were label mates, but I expect she would have killed this through her '73-'74 vibe.
