Thanks Gentry, appreciate the comments, awesome. Yeah, I find it surprising what my kids are into and the constant rationalisation as to what they like and don't. The constant is that it seems to be music that has been popular and perpetual, doing the timeless concept some degree of service.
And yes, everything evolves and shifts out of the "now". I thought it was interesting when Classic Rock magazine launched and took an aggressive position on elevating bands that become somewhat disconnected from their original movement or place. It gave them definition and did what media often does well, give a disparate suite of bands an identity and cohort to belong to.
